Without even realizing it, most of us are living in a constant state of lack.
I don’t have enough money…to buy the things that I want.
I don’t have enough time…to do the things that I love to do.
I don’t have enough connections…to help me move forward in my career.
Thinking thoughts like these does not feel good. And when we don’t feel good, we don’t go after the things we want more of!
I want you to succeed. I want you to get everything you desire, but it’s impossible to do this when you feel so crappy about everything that’s missing.
Years ago when I was feeling down about my own financial state, a friend of mine asked, “Are you living on the street?”
“No,” I replied.
“Do you have an income?”
“Yes I have a job.”
“Then, you’re fine,” he would say.
I was fine! Sure, I was in need of some life changes, but complaining about what I didn’t have was not pushing me forward in making those changes. It was just keeping me stuck.
The key is to start feeling good right now- with everything you do have. What is wonderful about your current situation? Go through each area of your life and pinpoint a few things. Do this even if it seems impossible at first. For example, being at a job you hate. Here are a few things you may be grateful for:
I am grateful that it’s teaching me all the things that I don’t want in a dream job. I am grateful to have met my co-worker Jane. I am grateful that it supplies a steady income. I am grateful for my health benefits. I am grateful that I am more motivated than ever to find something I love.
Feel grateful for the beautiful sky when you walk outside. Feel grateful for your warm bed at night. Feel grateful to have your best friend in your life.
Once you start to open your eyes to all the greatness, you’ll feel wonderful. And when you feel wonderful, you start to do wonderful things.
