So the last month or so has been a real struggle- health wise.
I may not have shown physical signs in my last few videos, but that’s just because I’m one strong woman
Nothing serious, just a common virus to an infection to a full-blown cold (with persistent coughing)
Anyway, when I sat down to come up with a video idea for this week, the only topic that came to mind was “sickness,” because…
A.) that’s all I seem to be dealing with lately and
B.) my body was in recovery mode and I could barely think straight
So naturally, in true Shaina fashion, I created a video titled, “Under the Weather? Tips (to lift your spirits) When You’re Sick!”
with gratitude and much love,
Hey guys…Happy Wednesday! I’m Shaina Leis if this is your first time here, if it’s not welcome back.
So over the past month, I have been under the weather- legit weeks of not feeling great. It started off with one thing and then another and turned into another thing.
I’m like, “Can I catch a break around here?”
So when I sat down to come up with a video idea, I was like well, “This is the only topic I can seem to relate to lately…”
So today, I’m sharing QUICK TIPS to lift your spirits when you’re sick!
OK, so let’s get the obvious points out of the way. When you’re sick, you want to take care of yourself to get better. Which means LOTS of liquids, REST is key, eating clean + healthy and of course any medicine that you’re comfortable taking- whether that be OTC or a prescription from a doctor.
That is my million dollar medical advice.
OK, now my input as a life coach!
Your body is sick, not your brain. Don’t lose your sense of humor + spirit. I know sometimes it’s easier said than done, but check in with where your mind is at. You may not be able to change being sick right now, but you can always change your perspective.
And with that being said…
Find the silver lining. What’s perfect about being sick right now? Maybe you can finally binge watch that new show on Netflix or read that book that’s been on sitting on your shelf.
Don’t feel guilty for not getting things done. If you’re like me and usually feel fulfilled by being productive, then not feeling well and not getting things done can be extremely frustrating.
It’s easy to feel guilty by saying, “I should be doing this or that.” But that just creates more stress, which can actually lengthen your sick time.
You just want to be gentle with yourself and focus on CARE. Remind yourself that those things will get done, just a little later than expected.
And if you must (and energy allows), tackle very small, manageable tasks.
Don’t deny a little outside care. I am the queen of “I can take care of myself.” But if your roommate or boyfriend or whoever offers to make you soup or pick up your prescription, allow that. It can bring a real sense of comfort.
Use your sickness as a lesson. When we’re ill, it’s just another reminder as to how much we take our health for granted, right? We get a measly head cold and think this sucks.
Remember that feeling so that when you are healthy again, you can wake up in the morning with a sense of gratitude and the motivation to cease the day.
That is for today guys. Be sure to LIKE this video if you enjoyed it.
I am off next week because I’m heading to Vegas Baby (YOLO) for some birthday celebrations. I’m going to try my best to VLOG while I’m there, without breaking the rule of “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”. So make sure you subscribe to my channel. I’ll also link my other VLOG videos down below for you to check out.
See you in two weeks! Bye
