I’m officially back!!
Although it was hard for me to say “no” to something I enjoy doing, it was necessary in order to prioritize. I used the extra time to commit to a new project, my relationship and even my social life.
With that being said, I thought it was only appropriate to do a video on maintaining a healthy balance between career and life.

Hey guys. I am officially back. You’re like “where the heck have you been?”
Don’t hate me! I just had to take a step back and create some time for other things in my life.
So today, I thought it’s only appropriate to do a video about work/ life balance.
Personally I love what I do. A perfect Saturday to me, is waking up at 7am with a cup of coffee at my desk and working. You’re like, “C’mon. That’s your perfect Saturday?”
But that’s because work feels like a hobby to me…so I can confuse the two sometimes. It’s very easy for me to push my social life aside or not exercise or not do other things that I enjoy.
Now, whether you love what you do or you don’t and maybe you’re just addicted to making money, we can all become workaholics sometimes. And too much of anything is not good for us.
So that’s what we’re going to talk about today: the balance between work and life.
The camera missed me…
Break the workaholic habit. If you’ve been on the workaholic train for a long time, it’s easy to mistake it as part of your identity (that’s just who I am)
but it’s not…it’s just a habit that can be broken. It’s about stopping, taking that step back and looking at your life through a different lens. Who do you want to be to better yourself + quality of life? (A better friend? A better wife? Etc)
Don’t be afraid to say “NO.” Sometimes you have to say “no” to things in order to prioritize. Even though I LOVE YouTube, I had to take a break to focus my attention on a new project, commit more time to my relationship and to socialize a little bit more (not be so much of a hermit or a grandma).
Look at your own life. Where do you keep saying, yes, yes yes and because of that, what areas are you ignoring and that are actually important to you?
And then you…
Prioritize. Accordingly. You make a plan and you stick to it. And you remind yourself everyday of WHY you made these changes- why you’re working a little less and spending more time with family. Why you start work a little later to hike every morning. Having that new, clear sense of purpose will keep you on track.
Don’t forget about hobbies. As adults, we get so consumed with making money, that we forget to do things we enjoy for the mere fact that we enjoy them.
Just the other day, my boyfriend and I were talking about the different things we loved doing as kids. I loved to dance, I loved drawing- And he was like why don’t you do those things anymore? I thought, why don’t I do those things anymore?
It was kind of a wake up call. So I signed up for dance classes and I took my drawing pad out from retirement.
So just as you would carve out time for a doctors appointment, set a time every week that you’re going to do something just because you love it.
And lastly when all else fails…
Think about your deathbed! I don’t mean to be morbid, but we ain’t getting any younger.
Just for one second, think about lying on your deathbed and your life resuming exactly how it is right now…what do you wish you did less of and what do you wish you did more of? It’s very telling! Life is short and nobody wants to leave this earth with regret.
